How to convert a bank statement to Excel

Download the statement from your online banking as a PDF. Drop it into the box above. Check the table, then download it as an Excel workbook or a CSV file. Money out and money in are kept in separate columns, with the running balance, so totals are easy to check.

Statements that are photographs or scans do not contain text, so they cannot be read yet.

Common questions

Is my statement uploaded anywhere?

No. The conversion runs in your web browser. The file stays on your device.

Which banks does it work with?

So far it has been tested on sample statements in six common layouts: separate money-out and money-in columns, a date shown once per day, a single signed amount column, CR and DR markers, bracketed negative amounts, and statements running over several pages. Real statements from the main UK banks are being tested now, and each bank will be listed here only once it is confirmed. If a file cannot be read, nothing is charged.

How do I know the figures are right?

Every row is checked to see that the running balance adds up and that no row appears twice. Anything that does not add up is highlighted so you can compare it with the statement.

How much does it cost?

A small number of pages each day will be free. See pricing for the planned paid options.

Check the converted figures against your statement before you rely on them. Scanned statements (photographs or image-only PDFs) are not supported yet. This is a draft tool under test.
